Search Video Clips from Popular Video Sharing Sites In One Place

The image “http://www.ulinkx.com/images/ulinkx_logo.png” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

How do you find videos on the web related to some topic? The Youtube website is probably a good place to start but if you confine the search only to YouTube, you will miss so much exciting stuff that exists in other places.

Google Video, MySpace, DailyMotion, iFilm, Metacafe, Revver, Veoh, Reuters, Yahoo! Videos, BrightCove, MSN Soapbox, AOL, Grouper...these video sharing websites may not be as big as YouTube but they still have a great fan following and host tons of video clips that may well be of your interest.

We often ignore searching video content on these "non-YouTube" sites because of lack of time - fortunately, this problem is now a thing of the past with uLinkx - a comprehensive video search engine to help you conveniently search multiple video websites from one place.

uLinkx provides RSS search feeds for your video search queries. And you can also watch any of these videos without leaving the uLinkx website - no more hitting the back or forward buttons in your browser.

My favorite feature is the Live Video search which is like a common wrapper for all video sharing sites. You execute a live query on YouTube or sites right inside uLinkx.

Other than video search, uLinkx can be used for bookmarking video clips from multiple sites or organizing them in video playlists. [image a single playlist that streams videos clips coming from different sources like YouTube, Metacafe and Google Video]

Wishlist - more customizable RSS feeds and support for BrightCove and Blip.tv. I also faced problems subscribing to the Video search feeds in Newsgator but they worked fine inside Google Personalized homepage.

A Google user
“There is not a single day when I do not use Google for any of my needs. How do you think I reached Deewane Mastane? Through Google. How do you think I found all those sites where you can hack passwords and awesome stuff? Through Google. Google has many unknown features too (HINT: try clicking on the ‘more’ option at the top when you visit the site). There are also parameters you can place in the search box to help you search better. Go ahead and experiment my friends.”

Wikipedia, the free ENCYCLOPEDIA

Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/ is the communal encyclopedia that anyone can edit. The content of Wikipedia is free, written collaboratively by people from all around the world. This website is a wiki, which means that anyone with access to an Internet-connected computer can edit entries simply by clicking on the edit this page link.
This site is terrific if you desire knowledge. Just type what you are looking for and presto you get information, pictures, links to the topic. Even as you read the information, there are hyperlinks incase you want more information on a particular topic in the information provided.

I love the format of this site. I was actually shocked to know that this site is actually updated with information by people like YOU and ME. In other words, they don’t have a department or staff who update the knowledge base of the site. The only thing the staff does is verify the information updated by you.

The only drawback of this site is the search is not strong enough. For instance: I wanted to search the ‘THRILLER’ video from Michael Jackson. No matter what I typed with the word Thriller, it never led me to information on Michael Jackson’s thriller video. BUT, when I typed Michael Jackson, it gave me all the information on the king of pop and from there I was able to click on a link related to his thriller video.

Still I would say it is a great resource of knowledge. It goes deep into the search you made and gives you the maximum information needed. I find no harm in trying a hand on this website.

Movies and Games, Reviews and Previews

About
Wondering which new movie to watch this weekend? Want to know which movie did great at the box office and which received rotten tomatoes? Visit RottenTomatoes.com. This site not only tells you about movies but it also has lot of game reviews and previews.

Each movie listed at Rotten Tomatoes has a snippet, a review, trailer(s), clip(s), and a forum and news section of its own. You can also find out how big of an opening a particular movie received in terms of US$ or how much money did it make at the box office.

You can even buy movie tickets and posters, DVDs, games, and more from the Rotten Tomatoes online shop.

Rotten Tomatoes Recommendation Tools

  • Certified Fresh - When a film has 40 reviews, 5 of which are from Cream of the Crop critics, and has a Tomatometer of 75% or higher, it is Certified Fresh by Rotten Tomatoes. It stays “Certified Fresh” unless the film falls below 60%.
  • TomatoPicker - Browse through our database of over 100,000 movie titles. Filter your results by Tomatometer, genre, subgenre, mpaa rating, decade, year, and/or keywords.
  • Top Movies - Here, we offer the best reviewed movies of Rotten Tomatoes and the winners from various Awards categories, such as the Oscars and Golden Globes.

Why the site is called ‘Rotten Tomatoes’?
”Back in the days of the open theaters, when a play was particularly atrocious, the audience expressed their dissatisfaction by not only booing and hissing at the stage, but throwing whatever was at hand — vegetables and fruits included. Hence the name Rotten Tomatoes.”
